Colleen and Greg planned their Adirondack winter wedding around closeness. Their wedding wasn’t trend-driven or planned down to every traditional detail; it was cozy, personal, and romantic.
The night before wasn’t your typical rehearsal dinner. Instead, they met up with friends at a local bar in the Adirondacks to share beers, stories, and time together. This night set the scene for the winter wedding weekend they had dreamed of: laid-back and fun.
With no strict timeline to follow, Colleen and Greg planned their Adirondack wedding weekend with freedom to go with the flow. They made sure there was no stress or rigid structure to take away from the day or from what mattered most.
There was a perfect balance between a breathtaking snow-covered Adirondack mountain ceremony outdoors and a cozy lodge reception.
The outdoor winter ceremony was oh so dreamy! With the Adirondack mountain range stretching across the full 360° view. Guests sat on benches Colleen’s dad had hand-built himself, adding a very personal touch to the setting.
A candlelit reception followed inside Garnet Hill Lodge. Think cozy, intimate sit-down dinner with all of your closest loved ones gathered in one room. Speeches filled the room with both tears and laughter. This reception tied a beautiful bow on the day, a reminder that intimate weddings can feel incredibly meaningful when they’re planned intentionally to reflect your unique love.
I find many of my clients choose a smaller, more intimate wedding because it allows the day to feel lighter and less pressured. Colleen and Greg’s 28-person guest list gave them the gift of a slower day spent fully with their closest family and friends.
As their wedding photographer, being there to document it all, I could feel the calm energy throughout the day, it was contagious. Everyone was present, celebrating the newlyweds. There were emotional moments, of course, but with just thirty people gathered together, it felt even more special and close.
When couples prioritize a slower wedding day with time to truly be present with their guests, the result is a celebration that reflects who they are and what they value most.
If you’re planning your wedding day and want it to feel something like Colleen and Greg’s, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up.
